This first recipe was submitted by OriNoc0DrEamS@aol.com who tells us that it is important to follow the recipe exactly to get the rich  flavors.  She calls this her award winning recipe because at all her family functions she is required to present this dish.

Chicken Lazone

1 container of heavy whipping cream
4 Tbsp. chili powder
3 Tbsp. salt ( I know it's a lot of salt, but that's what it calls for)
1 stick of REAL butter (not margarine)

Mix all together until butter is dissolved.

Add 1 lb chicken breast, cut into chunks...

cook until chicken is done.

Serve over wheat pasta.

 

MUSHROOM STUFFED HAMBURGER STEAKS
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 small onion, chopped
6 fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 medium potato, shredded
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon all purpose flour
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
8 bacon slices

Melt butter in a large skillet; add onion and mushrooms, and saute over medium heat 2 to 3 minutes or until tender. Remove from skillet.

Combine ground been and next 7 ingredients in a large bowl; shape into 8 patties. Top 4 patties evenly with onion mixture; cover with remaining patties, pressing edges to seal. Wrap each with two bacon slices securing with wooden picks. Place on a rack in a broiler pan.

BROIL 5 1/2 inches from heat (with electric oven door partially open) 10 minutes on each side or until beef if no longer pink.

Squash Fritters
2 medium size yellow squash, grated
1/4 cup diced onion
2 tablespoons diced green bell pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon all purpose flour
1 large egg, lightly beaten
2 teaspoons butter, melted
1/2 cup olive oil

Stir together first 8 ingredients. Heat oil in a large heavy skillet. Drop mixture by tablespoonfuls into hot oil; fry in batches until golden, turning once. Drain on paper towels and serve immediately.

SAUSAGE PILAU

2 bacon slices, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1/2 pound smoked pork sausage links, cut into 1/4 inch slices
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1/4 large green pepper, chopped
2 cups water
1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon paprika

Cook bacon pieces in a dutch oven over medium high heat 4 minutes or until almost crisp. Add sausage and cook 4 minutes or until browned; remove bacon and sausage, reserving 1 tablespoon drippings in pan.

Saute onion and bell pepper in hot drippings 2 minutes or until tender. Add bacon, sausage, 2 cups water and next 3 ingredients; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and cook 20 minutes or until water is absorbed and rice is tender. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes.

CHIVE-CHEESE CORNBREAD

1 cup cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 cup shredded (4oz.) sharp cheddar cheese
3 tablespoons minced chives

In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar and baking powder. In another bowl, whisk the eggs, milk and butter. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Gently fold in cheese and chives. Pour into a greased 13x9x2 inch baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 18 minutes or until golden brown. Cut into strips; serve warm.
