Winter is coming on and it is time for some warm-me-ups so we will start todays recipes with a couple of soups that will warm your tummy!

Bean Soup

2 cups great northern beans
1/2 cup onions chopped
1/3 cup ketchup
3 chicken bouillion cubes
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 stick butter
1/2 teaspoon salt

Soak beans overnight.

Drain and rinse beans well. In a large pot, combine all ingredients except salt and cover completely with water. Simmer until beans are tender and flavor is well blended. Add salt and serve.

 

This next soup is made with Baked Potatoes and is fantastic .. this is one recipe that you MUST try.  So the next time you have the oven on  throw in some extra potatoes. 

Baked Potato Soup
6 large baking potatoes
1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup flour
7 cups milk
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1/2 pound fried bacon, crumbled
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1 cup sour cream
salt and pepper

Bake potatoes until done; let cool. Peel and cut potatoes into bite size pieces.

In a large pot on medium heat, melt butter. Add flour and stir until blended. Increase heat to medium-high, slowly adding milk until mixture is almost to a boil. Add potatoes, green onions and bacon. Stir in cheese and sour cream. Salt and pepper to taste. Heat until cheese is melted and serve

CHERRY - CHEESE BROWNIES

1 (23 oz.) pkg. fudge brownie mix
1 (8 oz.) pkg. softened cream cheese
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 egg
1 tsp. almond extract
1 can cherry pie filling

Preheat oven to 350 :. Prepare brownie mix as directed on package. Grease 9"x13" pan. Spread brownie mix. Bake 20 minutes. In small mixer bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy, gradually beat in sweetened condensed milk then egg and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. Pour evenly over brownie layer. Bake 20 minutes longer until set. Cool. Chill. Stir remaining 1/2 teaspoon almond extract into cherry filling. Place spoonful of cherries on each brownie before serving.

This Chicken recipe you cook in a slow cooker ...not by a cooking impaired chef

SLOW COOKER CHICKEN

8 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
4 potatoes, cubed
green beans, fresh or frozen
1 (10.75 oz.) can condensed cream of chicken or mushroom
1 (10.75 oz.) can milk
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1 (1 oz.) package dry onion soup mix

Put the chicken pieces, potatoesand green beans into a slow cooker. Combine the soup, milk, cornstarch and dry soup mix and pour over the chicken and potatoes. Cook for 8 to 10 hours on low. Serve!

KEY LIME CAKE

1 box lemon cake mix
1 small box lemon instant pudding
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup applesauce
4 eggs
2 Tbsp key lime juice (such as Joe and Nellie's)

Glaze

2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup key lime juice (such as Joe and Nellie's)

Mix together the mix, pudding, oil, applesauce, eggs and lime juice and beat according to package directions. Bake batter in greased sheet cake pan at 325 according to time on cake box. Prick top of hot cake with a fork. Spread glaze over entire cake. Slice and serve warm or cold.
